Playground

3 03 2007

What type of playground do we need in the new school?
What surface?
How large should it be?
Should it be divided into different sections, if so how would these be organised?
Do we need covered areas outside? (see details about Navigation Primary school)
Do we need seating areas outside?

A good exterior would have a range of sports features like a range of goal poats (that dont get easily removed by other classes), other sporting options like an astroturf basketbal/footballl cage. the are would need to be enough open space but not too many disclosed areas.
Another feature that would be needed is an alternative path instead of the current puddle ridden way :)

Space for football….and decent nets

I think that the playground should be asto-turf and that it should be a lot larger than the current playground

we need goal posts

Astro-turf is expensive to maintain and there’s always people who will try to rip it or mess it up.

How about basketball nets and proper football pitches with outlines?
Also there should be benches outside the school as well so people can sit, eat and listen to music outside.

large playground, with outdoor tables and benches especially for summer terms.
nets for football
section off for different football areas instead of games clashing together.soft tarmac floor or astro-turf.

i think there should be areas for football and areas just to sit down - maybe sheltered. there should be quite areas with plants to create a nice environment.

i think we should have some type of nets

I think a play ground would be good and it should be rather large

Lets not forget we are a rugby school, yes football is good for playtime but i think we should keep our rugby tradition alive instead of having the suggested football pitches.

I think the playground should be divided into separate areas for each year group

Large communal outdoor areas with lots of greenery and benches, e.t.c should be built. These should be separate from areas in which football would be played. I agree that football pitches need to be better organized- i.e. markings on the ground, but disagree that the surface should be astroturf due to the huge cost of such a material. Money could be better spent on nets, e.t.c.

i think we should have a large playground but lots of football pitches so games dont clash because on the playground we have now it is hard to play a good game of football.
Also football nets.

The area for football should be placed away from the school or cordened off so we will be allowed a much better football to play with without the risk of smashing new expensive materials. Fields should be supervised so we are allowed to play there in the summer. More drinking fountains as well. Football nets are a good idea but i have no doubt they will get broken. Pehaps a sensible alternative would be nets built into the wall so they are harder to brake.

A large play ground in sections divided into year groups

The playground has become a waste of space in comparison to previous years where is was used by the majority of the school. Areas to sit and relax would be beneficial to the whole student body.

I think it is important that areas are set aside for football to be played at break. The current situation where the boys play on the old tennis courts is unsatisfactory. The school needs provision for football as well as rugby as there are many boys who would rather play football than rugby!

i definitely think that as i progressed through the school years, less of the pupils played football and sports and would rather sit somewhere comfortable and dry, so definitely some covered areas would be great. the playground shouldn’t be situated in the middle of the teaching areas though because if ever a class was using the playground (to show how far planets were away form each other for e.g.) it was always a distraction! or even if someone randomly wandered to the maths prefabs (are they still there?)

i think the playgrounds should be large and i think there should be seating around the place and very large football pitches..:D
i hope that isnt too much to ask for…:P
:) :D
